Casio joins the Android Wear club with their first smartwatch

Casio has launched the all-new Smart Outdoor Android smartwatch. Casio isn’t known for modern good-looking watches, and the latest is no different. However, it offers the good ol’ rugged feel that the company is known for. Designed for outdoors, it is a great companion for activities such as trekking and mountain biking.

The Smart Outdoor can measure altitude, air pressure and is water resistant up to 50 meters. It can measure sunrise and sunset timings, and also features a compass and accelerometer. On the hardware front, this Android watch comes with a double-layered LCD display with a monochrome and colour watch mode.
The smartwatch comes with buttons that are large and slip-free. This ensures it can be operated by gloves. Users can also download the dedicated app from the Play Store that will allow it to engage in the various activities.
The highlight is the battery that promises to last over a month. Another highlight is the ability to connect it to the digital Casio EXILM Outdoor Recording Gear EX-FR100 and control the camera from a distance.
It will be hitting US store shelves in April priced at $500.
